If you love seafood there’s no better than to be than Maine! From clams to oysters and everything in between you can’t possibly spend time in Vacationland without feeling satisfied. But, if you’re the type that needs a little something extra to fully satiate that need for seafood you’re going to want to head to this family-owned restaurant! The Taste of Maine has the biggest lobster roll in Maine, in fact, their menu calls it the World’s Largest Lobster Roll. We think they might be right about that one.
If heaven exists for a lobster-lover it can be found in the form of Taste of Maine Restaurant in Woolwich!
Drive north from Portland towards Rockland and Camden and it sits between Brunswick and Wiscasset.
You can’t miss it driving down US-1. Mainly because it has a giant lobster hanging out on the roof. It’s been owned and operated by the Gregory family since 1978 which means that they have a pretty good idea of how to make Mainers happy.
The friend on the roof is known affectionely as “Larry the Lobster” and he’s about 70 feet long and 12 feet high.
Things inside are casual and fun.
This is definitely not a place you need to dress up for! There’s no pretense here and we love it that way.
And in the warmer months the back deck is the best place to enjoy those sweet Maine breezes from Pleasant Cove in the Sasanoa River.
But, let’s be honest. We didn’t come here for the breeze. We came here for the eats!
The eats are pretty fantastic. While this is clearly a spot for great lobster, all their seafood is top notch.
And we love the sides, too!
They offer a great lobster dinner.
And you can’t come to Maine without trying this tried-and-true meal.
But what we love most is the world’s biggest lobster roll!
Which, despite a $60+ price tag, might be one of the most popular items on the menu.
Served with loads of lobster meat, lettuce and mayo this thing is a monster!
And we mean monster in the best way possible.
We don’t advise trying it alone, although we’re told it’s certainly been done.
But, you’re going to want a few partners in crime to get the job done.
People come from thousands of miles away to experience this signature meal.
If your appetite isn’t quite ready for the world’s biggest lobster roll, rest assured that there are other ways to enjoy Maine’s most beloved crustacean.
The lobster grilled cheese is a must-try.
And even their regular-sized lobster rolls are absolutely packed with meat.
Come in and spend some time with the locals!
And make things even more festive by ordering a Bloody Mary.
Even that has a hearty helping of lobster!
The Taste of Maine is open seven days a week from 11:30 AM to 8:00 PM. Make sure to check out their Taste of Maine website to see their full menu and plan your trip or follow them on Facebook. Let us know what you think of the biggest lobster roll in Maine. Comment below.
